[rebel-builders] TAIL CONE STRINGERS (BEEF-UP)

Post by B-L Pollock » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:12 pm

Hi Kyle
Check out the SRfiles 101-1589 and 101-1599 I put 8 lengths of 3/4
extrusion from tail to cabin the only thing I did was to dremel out and
slide them in and use longer rivets. It made the tail cone strong, inexpensive
and I did not mind the weight back there as well.

MOOSE BUILDERS,

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO BEEFED UP THE TAIL CONE OF YOUR SR3500 USING THE 2"
U-CHANNEL MATERIAL, THAT IS INCORPORATED INTO MANY OTHER AREAS OF THE
AIRFRAME, AND RAN IT BETWEEN BULKHEADS:

I AM TRYING TO FIND THE MOST COST/TIME EFFECTIVE WAY TO MAKE, OR BUY 100'+
OF THIS TO INCORPORATE INTO A TAIL CONE BEEF-UP, SIMILAR TO HOW STEVE AND
MANY OTHERS DID IT; USING CORNER WRAPS AND ADDITIONAL STRINGERS IN FLOOR
AND
ROOF - THAT GO BETWEEN BULKHEADS.

MAM WANTS WAY TOO MUCH PER FOOT FOR THEIR U CHANNEL MATERIAL, SO I NEED TO
FIGURE OUT ANOTHER WAY. ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED.

THANKS

KYLE

I meant to say that MAM instructions are to drill the two additional
holes.
Mine (496R) doesn't have the holes predrilled either, which just seems a
little odd since the rest of the holes are already there. Guess I'll
just
go ahead and drill them for now.

Hi Ben
Mine don't have those holes. May be it because mine is a later S/N 802R
