Hi Garry
They are invisible from the outside of a finished wing. You can see them
if you have an inspection hole in the wing skin behind the spar at the
strut connection. That inspection hole was optional when I did my wing
so you might or might not have it. One could also see them or feel them
with a finger if you put about a half inch hole behind the spar. You
could probably make a half inch hole underneath the strut fairing so
that it would not even be visible. Any chance there is a gap there big
enough to see through? Or if you have an inspection hole ahead of the
spar look for AN3 bolts about every 3" along the top and bottom of the
spar in that wing bay. I suppose a long pole and mirror might also let
you see them if you removed the wing tip and got a light down there.
I have no idea of your aircraft's history but if the wing root upgrades
look original rather than retrofitted I think it is highly probable that
the spar doublers are there as well but I guess nothing beats seeing
them to be certain.

Ken,
Is there any way to tell if the spar doublers are installed without
opening the wing? I can see the extra ribs and the strut attach fitting
but cannot see anything that would be a telltale for the spar doubler.

Hi Craig
I'll look up details if you need further but from memory:
Doubled leading edge root rib with a channel like doubler on the top and
bottom of that rib.
Extra leading edge rib 6" outboard from the root.
(root means the most inboard rib)
approx. 1" x 1/4" doublers bolted to the top and bottom of the spar
centered on the strut attach point. The top one is about 3' long, the
bottom just over a foot.
There is also a 32 thou doubler rivetted to the spar under the strut
attach fitting but that might also be on the 1500 lb wing.

Does anyone know how I can check to see if my rebel kit #207 has the
upgraded wings? The seller told me he ordered it as a 1650 gross so it's
supposed to be. How do i tell?
Thanks Craig
