DOOR SILL REINFORCEMENT
DOOR SILL REINFORCEMENT
Bill,
I wouldn't bother with a doubler over the door FRAMES (ST-31 or
ST-28), if you're already flying. Wait until (or IF) you get some dents
there ... Making these frames out of the thicker material <while
building>, IS a good idea - it adds strength, without a lot of weight.
If you mean the panel BELOW the door (FUS-26) - that IS worth
doubling, by drilling out the old rivets, making an overlay of .025,
and glueing it over top of the old piece with lots of epoxy chromate,
and re-rivetting the two pieces in place. This is particularly important
on floats, as this area seems to flex a lot.
Of course, as always, these, or ANY, mods are purely the BUILDER'S
CHOICE !!
