Personally I would not bother doubling them if you are not going to
rivet to the skin. You might find that separating the second channel a
bit (space them apart) will make a better fit for the chair rails.

I took over Rebel 414 as a project. The front floor channels were built without doubling as per the original plans. Current plans call for doublers on front floor channels as well as three extra channels. Do I need to rivet the doublers to the skin or am I just as well off to just rivet the doubler to the existing channel? The doubled channel will be rivetted to the existing bracket for the current single channel in any case.
