final drilling wing bolts

Post by Jesse Jenks » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:16 pm

I have had my wings on temporarily once to get everything aligned and build
the struts. I used undersized bolts, and planned to drill everything to
final size at a later date. Now I am wondering if I should reassemble and
drill the fittings while mated to ensure proper bolt to hole alignment, or
if I can drill/ream everything separately. Doing it assembled sounds better,
but I don't know how I would keep everything from moving while drilling. For
example, if I remove the bolt from the front wing attachment then how do I
immobilize that joint while drilling? There is a large gap between the
fittings, and so no way to clamp them tight. The rear fitting and the struts
may be easier because they all have a close fit, but still seems a bit harry
trying to keep it together with no bolts.
Thanks
Jesse
