Nav Light/Landing Light Wiring in Wing

Post by john hart » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:26 pm

I ran my wiring loose through 5/8" grommets drilled through the middle
of the lower rear portion on the tip ribs, plus an extra pull wire for
possible future additional or replacement wiring. Easy to stack the
ribs and cut all holes at once with a hole saw before building the
wing....all holes are perfectly lined up. Then deburr and install the
grommets to protect the wiring from metal edges...lightest way to do the
job.

I initially thought of simply running the wires through the leading edge
channel in front of the front spar...Murphy advised against it because
the leading edges can get dinged, and the wires pinched. Murphy also
advised against grounding to the wing structure...I forget why...!
