Sanity check here. Each Rebel aileron is approx 18 sq ft (x 4) for a total of
72 Sq Ft. If you go by the Poly Fiber book, the Poly-Brush covers 150 s.f. per
gallon. The requirement is for 1 brush coat and an additional spray coat (coat
#2) and another optional spray coat (coat #3). Probably should add some for
the finishing tapes. If the 150 sf/gal is for each coat then I come up with at
least 1 1/2 mixed gallons for the Poly Brush. I will probably go with just the
brush coat and 1 spray coat. This would require material for 144 sf. A gallon
of Poly Brush mixed 3-1 yields 1.33 gallons. That should be enough.
Poly spray covers 200 sf/gal and the required coverage is 3 sprayed
cross coats which is really six coats. 72 x 6 = 432 sf. It looks like 2 mixed
gallons are required here (sounds like a lot of material) and it is only a few
dollars more just to buy 2 gallons vs 1 gallon and 3 qts. So that is the plan at
this point. A quart of Poly Tac should be enough.
To recap here is my Poly fiber shopping list,
1 gallon Poly Brush (pink stuff)
2 gallons Poly Spray (aluminum stuff)
1 gallon reducer (thinning stuff)
1 quart Poly Tac (sticky stuff)
I see several others at this point in the project. I am renewing my efforts to
get my Rebel finished.
