I catch up to Wray occasionally - he's soldiering on with his
Rebel, out in Grand Bend. It just might be ready to fly this year !!
Engine is hanging already...
My impression is that most of the manuals seem to be adequate
to get the airplanes built - judging by the numbers now flying !!
They DO need some cleanup in some areas - that have been
mentioned here before.... The one manual that IS needed
is a Moose manual, as Ted keeps commenting ! At the moment,
as Wayne says, there's a SR manual, and Moose mods - no
complete Moose manual. Maybe once they get a small assembly line
going on fastbuilds, and all the little detail changes get
settled, they could find one of those many out-of-work tech writers
from the computer business, and put him to work.
I like Wayne's idea of having the writer take dictation while
working along with the team building the Moose - and adding
pictures at key places. The cost would be significant - but
so would the results ! Maybe the Yukon would be a good
test case for this approach ....
Norm is right on - different people learn in different ways !
I have had prospects insist that they couldn't possibly build an
airplane without blueprints -- while I know of one builder
who COULD NOT READ, yet built a very nice Rebel !
You will never please everybody .... but if somebody
really wants to build and fly, he will find a way !!!

I occasionally mention that Wray Thompson's site has an improved
complete Rebel wing manual on his website. Several steps are sequenced
more properly and several tips are there as I recall. I think he also
incorporated the tank build into the wing manual IIRC. When he offered
it to MAM gratis, they were not interested. Anyone hear from Wray in the
last couple of years??
