[rebel-builders] my nosewheel is now a tailwheel

Thanks for the report Drew !

Sounds like we have another tailwheel option ! No doubt a nice
pneumatic tire can help the ride !

Thought I saw a NOTAM saying all runways at Centralia were closed
for a few days ...... ???? ;-) :-)

I just uploaded a picture of the tailwheel I built. I got drawings from Bob
Barrows the bearhawk designer and more or less followed them making changes
so I could fit the nosewheel off one of my floats and widening the attach
point to fit my fiberglass tailspring. I finished it a while ago and
installed it last week but today was the first chance I had to fly with it.
The airport hasn't been plowed for a while and there was about 2-4" of
fresh snow with some ice and packed snow underneath. My first impression
was is it ever a smooth ride compared to the solid murphy wheel steering
was positive in both directions and it kicks out with just a bit of brake
on both sides. I did some touch and gos and my plane tracked nice and
straight without even a hint of shimmy. So far I'm very pleased with it.

UMMM yeah did I mention that part of my taxi testing was a drive over to
wilson's strip ;o) I forgot to mention that with some carefull scrounging I
was able to build my tailwheel for less than $100 including buying the
owner of the lathe a new digital caliper as a token of my gratitude.
However considering the amount of time I spent making it I'd recommend
buying from Scott Iron Design the same thing already built.
