I have a set of Westberg Mfg (Westach) 24' fuel probes 5" bendable.

I however now realize that although they are the correct size for the Rebel,
they are too short for the Super Rebel as the SR fuel tank goes from the
main to
the rear spar unlike the Rebel which has subwebs in front of the rear spar.

I tried to return to Westberg in exchange for 36" probes however the 24" are
custom units so I can't exchange.

Question 1.. Would any Rebel builder like to buy these (unused).
Question 2.. If no to question one, any suggestions for the best
installation in
a SR tail dragger?
Should they be slightly aft so as to reach the rear of
the
tank? Max fwd? or somewhere in-between?

First an apology for the delay getting this new info up but I was out at Big
White enjoying a week of skiing.

Tim has sent me some pictures of his fuel probe installation and they are
now on
the construction page (last box in "other stuff"). I've also modified the
first
page so you can go directly to construction. ...Wray

I just used those in my tank. I'll send a 'picture worth a thousand

tomorrow.

I think you will be fine with what you have if you catch the 'average'
location in the tank.

westach fuel probes

I see in old messages that some builders are using the Westach fuel level
system. Could anyone using it let me know if they like the system or have
had problems with it.

westach fuel probes

Post by Jims170A » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:56 pm

Hi Mike
I installed probes in both tanks and bought a dual gauge direct from the
factory in Sonoma CA 707 938-2121.
All of my testing was in the garage (yep it still in the garage) so no real
life info.
I put a post on Murphy support page with more info if you haven't seen it.

westach fuel probes

MIKE
I have the Westach fuel system in #460. The hardest part of the whole thing
is the calibration. Talk to a tech person at the company about different
probes and you're application. And they will recommend the best probe. There
are several different types.
My gauges say full until I get down to half tank. Because the probe actually
needs to be bent up to get to the top of the tank before bending down. So you
need a probe with a longer bending area.
