[rebel-builders] Next Murphy Builders Meeting - This Sunday, November 12th

Post by Bob Patterson » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:26 am

Hi Dave !

As Wayne says, it's been a regular thing for a looooong time ! :-)
We try for the second Sunday, every second month, but sometimes we
have to switch to Saturday, or a week earlier or later, to work
around Mother's Day, etc. One of the challenges is we're never
sure how many will be there - we've had as few as 7, and as many
as 70 !! If the weather's good, we have fly-in Rebels & Elites,
sometimes 6 or more, sometimes from Michigan and New York,
and maybe Petawawa ....

Be a long drive for you - Brampton is about 30 miles NW of
Toronto, Ontario. About 12 hours by road from Oshkosh - if you
really push ! ;-) We do have visitors from as far away as
California and British Columbia - it's worth the trip !
On occasion, we've even had Darryl Murphy come it to talk to
the group about developments at the factory.

We get together and share experiences, tips & tricks, tools,
suppliers, and a fair bit of coffee, tea, and donuts ! ;-)
Ken Lehman runs the Rebel Forum, and always has interesting
tips on ways to build. Many others chip in with parts for
Show 'n Tell, and help with building suggestions for
Mooses (Meese ?) and Elites. I'm always amazed at some of the
brilliant improvements these guys come up with - things like
moving the window latch to the top, inside the fuselage,
latching into a handle for closing, leaving the window clear.

One highlight is the award of the Copper Cleco Trophy -
for the builder who has made the most progress since last meeting.
It's a tough choice sometimes - there are a few guys now determined
to get them flying & licenced to travel in time for next years
Rebel Ramble across Canada !

Everyone is welcome - there's no membership fee ! If you
are passing through on business, or just have some air miles
to use up, try to grab an extra day, and join the fun !! :-)
Bring a friend - they might just decide to build a Rebel too ! ;-)

weekly and it would be great if you could give a little more notice ? I'm
kind of new at the site, maybe this is a regular event? time and place ?
