Sounds like a good thing in general, assuming not so short as to increaseI shortened the stick such that I could get full forward and full
aileron at the same time without hitting the panel. Not sure I needed to
as I can't imagine actually needing that combination.

required stick forces too much. Don't know about the Rebel, but I've used
simultaneous full forward, full aileron (and nearly full rudder) in a slip.
