You don't get the same feeling of decelleration, but you can get
quite a steep descent at 70 - 75 mph ... and you don't want to be
much slower. Sideslips will only be necessary if you are REALLY
high !! ;-) ....but they work VERY well ! Slow to about
60 - 65 to lower the flaps, then push over to 75 or so for final.
The flapperons don't cause as much drag as the Cessna flaps,
so there's no problem taking off with full flap. Some Rebels
will climb better with 2 notches instead of full, at 65 mph.
The Moose flies just like a BIG Rebel in the air - it's just
a bit more sedate about it. ;-) Glad you liked it.
The Moose is a big limo - the Rebel is a sports car ! ;-)
Both nice - just different.

Do the flapperons have the same affect as regular flaps when on final. My
experience is mostly in a 172 and at 30 degrees of flaps, they slow me down
very nicely. I have been practicing with 1-20 flaps and slipping to gain
--experience. I know that the flapperons provide better low speed handling,
but do they also provide the same drag effect as regular flaps?
Jim!
