Mike, the Cessna 172 used a snap in button about 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" dia.
to fill the hole on the Lycoming vertical aluminum at the head of each
rear cylinder. I think the Cessna number is a CM 2692.48-1S. That gave
room for a spark plug socket on an extension to remove the plug.
A note; The steel prongs would wear on the aluminum Baffle from rattling
over a long period of time so I put a dab of RTV silicone sealant on 2
or 3 of the prongs each time they were removed to prevent that.

what do you do,
cut big hole for wire & plug to go through then cover with metal or
remove wire from plug and use small hole with grommets, how does wire
remove
from plug anyway ??
