[rebel-builders] Rebel engine mount

Post by Ken » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:08 am

Hi Ken
As long as you have room to put the AN5 bolt through and get a wrench on
it I would not shim as the higher hole weakens things a bit and
increases the tendancy of the mount to rotate forward as the engine
pulls. Even if using a prebuilt mount I'd rather lower the top holes to
keep the fit correct. That said my kit came with one piece aluminum
mounts which didn't fit well so I replaced them with welded steel custom
parts so I'm not the best guy to answer you.

Hi:
MAM states the lower engine mount holes are to be 23/32 " up from the
bottom of the firewall. When I place FUS 85 & 86 bolted together on the floor
on top of the .032 gusset I have 5/8 "- should I put a shim under the FUS
85/86 to bring it up to 3/4?? Thanks for the help.

Ken
