[rebel-builders] Tail Wheel

Post by Ralph Baker » Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:08 am

Mike,
Initial judgement was that after it takes a set after several landings and
taxiing that a tailwheel first landing might cause the tail wheel assembly
to hit the rudder if the spring was in the bottom hole. A secondary
consideration was tearout although that seems remote. We decided to fly it
in second hole from the bottom and only change isf taxi tests or flying make
it necessary.
Ralph Baker

Elitest,
I pulled my stab and elevator off today for paint and decided to adjust my
tail spring. Ralph, did you feel the bottom hole puts the spring too close
to the rudder? I put it 1 hole up and still have the angle on the pivot.
Hope it works out. I sure am not pulling that tail off again to adjust it
after paint.
