Spring Gear Toe in - Toe out?

Post by Charles Bailey » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:56 pm

Hi all,

What is the Toe in / Toe out on a Rebel with Spring Gear?

How do I change it? Washers, Taper shims, Al shim on one side?

Looks like I need .023 and .030 taper on the axle pad.

Thanks
Chuck Bailey

Spring Gear Toe in - Toe out?

Post by LisaFly99 » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:56 pm

CHUCK
On my spring gear I was told by two aircraft mechanics to put in at least
1deg. of toe in and 2 deg. wouldn't hurt. They're toed in 1&1/8 inch in 12
ft. I used feeler gauges for shims behind the two rear bolts till I got the
toe in I wanted then just drilled the bolt pattern in the feeler gauges and
bolted them between the gear and axle. Still need to fine tune it some more
think I could use more toe in.

Spring Gear Toe in - Toe out?

Hi Chuck !
The factory supplies tapered shims with the axles -
yours should be there somewhere ...

You definitely DON'T want toe OUT !! I think the manual suggests
one or 2 degrees of toe in, but you can check with Tech.
