Seriously..porting, flow balancing etc. Maybe there's even a higher
compression piston...but I'm unaware of that.

[rebel-builders] engines

Post by Angus McKenzie » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:44 am

Hi Mike
I've got a set of four almost brand new 0-360 STD.bore pistons, rings and
pins to sell that I ran a very short time in my 0-320 A2B before I bored it
+.010 over and bought a new set of +.010 0-360 pistons and rings. This
combo increases compression and bumps hp from 150 to 160 but only likes to
drink 100LL.
You also need to insure large valves and guides and connecting rods need to
be beefed up.
I have heard of cylinder bases being planed on an ill-fated Rebel from the
north to bump up to 168+ but I think Wayne can vouch that it did not work
out as the owner planned.
If you talk to Mike Titus (bobp can help you get in touch with him) he can
explain all the intricacies.
I built my own engine, with help from various sources and by the time I
finished spending I could have bought one off the shelf WITH a warranty for
the same price
..........Angus

some one told me once if you have 160 hp 0-320 you can run car gas and just
drop in some octane boost or lead additive forget which, but also run 100LL,
does any of this make sense or is it all wrong

Mike T. is most likely the guy building your engine anyhow Mike. Get a
number for him and talk to him around Greg and then call Greg back with the
new education in hand.

You will have to find good premium fuel to run the 160 Mike and add AVP or
similar to it to save the valves. Anything else, other than 100LL is asking
for trouble.
