spraying epoxy cromates

Post by Jones, Mike » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:47 pm

Was wondering if the builders that are spraying their parts with epoxy
cromate are using fresh air breathing system. After looking at the OSHA US
government web site these chemicals, along with MEK are really nasty. Where
can fresh air breathing systems be purchased as well ?
Perhaps its better leave access holes while building and use corrosion x
every year, maybe better for the lungs anyway

They use fresh air supply systems, usually part of HVLP paint spray
systems like Croy, etc. These are available from Aircraft Spruce &
others.

Check the archives at www.dcsol.com/murphy-rebel .... several
builders have made their own units for fresh air, cheaply !

Spraying the large surfaces is not really important - brushing
the epoxy on wet when joining parts IS.

Acetone might be slightly lass toxic than MEK ....

You are right -ALL this stuff is nasty !! Be careful !
