Hi Ian

Absolutely! My old unit had little plastic spacers with it to limit the
movement and I used a long horn.

It sounds like it wouldn't hurt to also slow the trim down. There are
various speed reduction devices sold and a few simple plans on the net
for constructing your own.

For trim systems that can kill you, most certified ships also use dual
switches. Your thumb moves two separate switches simultaneously so that
the trim won't move unless two switches are activated. And it won't move
by itself unless both switches both jam/fail simultaneously. Easiest way
to implement that is just add a single switch (2 wires) somewhere in one
of the two motor power wires. The switches don't have to be side by side
of course.

Ian; I ran my trim to full up and full down in cruise flight (Rebel652) and
although uncomfortable and hard to hold level flight, control is possible.
Down was definitely more difficult to compensate for then up. When I do it
again (notice "when" not if) I will put more travel up then down - 60/40.

Hi Ian !

No worries with the Rebel - the trim's not tooo strong, and we
hardly use it anyway ! Maybe once a month, if flying with a different
load .... The problems/concerns were only with the Moose trim,
and mostly about down trim, as it's really large, and effective !
