Congrats Charlie,
Make sure you're engine is broken in before you start chasing cht's. That's usually a good hour at 75+% of power. You'll see the cht drop 25/50f if your looking. Also don't forget that the thermocouple gasket style under the bottom plugs give you a reading about +40 from the bayonet style.
It's worth it, isn't it!! Curt N97MR

I've tried to send this some days ago, but was unsuccessful. Good old Mike
figured out the problem (as usual) and corrected it -- so here goes:
------------------------------
Happy to report that first flight of Super Rebel N96CS was completed Thurs.
3/2/06 (1:05 flight) with no major problems to report. Powered by an O-540
A4-A5 with two blade Hartzell constant speed. One minor oil leak at cooler
fitting (easily repaired) and CHT's slightly above desired were noted. Aileron
response was somewhat less than anticipated, but elevator and rudder were as
desired. Electric rudder and elevator trim were adequate, responsive and
controllable throughout entire range. Electric flaps operated throughout entire
range as desired. Hands-off flight throughout entire speed range with
appropriate trim. Empty weight came out slightly higher than anticipated, but
extra equipment was added (electric flaps, rudder trim, full IFR radios and
instruments, corrosion primer on all interior surfaces, extra fuel tank bays,
etc.) Hope to deal with CHT by experimenting with cowl air exit during next
hours of testing. Almost eight years of work, but very satisfied. Will
fly the 25 hr's of test time an
d
then paint.

[rebel-builders] SR - First flight
Glad to hear another one made it up there. I can only hope for a maiden
flight like you mentioned when my time comes.
