Moose tail: New stinger flex

Post by Ted Waltman » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:06 pm

Well, while towing it around (for a short while), it didn't seem to come
that close. Guess I was focusing too much on the stinger flex and not
enough on the stinger flex / rudder clearance. If it were really close
(e.g. an inch or two) I hope I would have noticed <grin>.

The key question is how close would the new stinger get to the rudder
when flexing: 1) if one were at gross weight and 2) one really landed
hard? I don't know how to answer your question until it happens (to
me?).

I believe you're right, though, in suggesting that it is probably much
better to put the new stinger in the 3rd hole from the bottom, thereby
moving it further away from the rudder.

Ted

Ted, you mentioned getting more flex out of the stinger. Question: how
close does it come to hitting the bottom of the rudder? I am just
thinking that moving the front mount up a hole may be better than
changing the angle
on the new stinger.
