wing inspection holes and doublers

Post by bransom » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:51 am

I started out making rectangular doublers for where the torque tube horn
exits the bottom wing skin. On the right wing I also made the 2 1/4 inch
inspection holes near the root and middle hinge attach places. I'm now
looking at making those holes on the left wing but see that at the middle
hinge inspection hole, it overlaps with the rectangular doubler made for the
torque tube horn slot.

This got me to looking through MAM further to see what (if) there is anything
more specific regarding these inspection ports and doublers. I don't see
anything there. It looks like I'll get rid of the rectangular doublers and
make something bigger to also pick up the area around the inspection ports.
Is this the way to go?

Also, are anchor nuts the way to go for the back side of the hole itself, for
screwing on cover plates?

Thanks in advance,
Ben, 496R

wing inspection holes and doublers

I am not putting any inspection holes at the trailing edge spar because I
used anchor nuts for the flaperon hinge brackets so no need to access that
area.
