Long range tanks

Post by Bob Patterson » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:47 am

Hi All !

Met these folks at Oshkosh - they make flexible
fuel tanks for long trips. These tanks can be mounted
almost anywhere - or just strapped onto a seat !

www.turtlepac.com

This might be a better solution than building your
kit with oversized tanks - for those few long trips !
Really large tanks can be a problem because of condensation
accumulation if partially filled, also, lower levels
may cause flow problems - 10 gallons in a 100 gallon
tank is not very deep ! ;-) It's also no help to
performance to be carrying around an extra couple of
hundred pounds of unneeded fuel for local flying ...

Just another suggestion !

Long range tanks

Post by Schmucker, Del » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:47 am

Bob:

I'm with you about using these. Instead of having large tanks with the
problems that they bring, think about installing plumbing that would
allow "quick" connect with one of these for those exceptional trips.

Thank you,
