static pressure

Post by carol and murray cherkas » Sat Feb 18, 2012 10:10 am

Hello:
This issue probably has been beeten to death before but after 100 hrs. I
finnally disconnected my static line from the pitot tube to find that I
now get a correct reading on my airspeed indicator with the line open to
the cockpit. I feel that I should however connect the static line to the
outside by putting in a rivet, drilling it out and sealing the line to
it. Where should I drill the rivet for this? Van's puts one on each side
too equalize the pressure.

Thanks
Murray

Me too..I have an outside static and an alternate source valve on the panel
in case the outside one ices up. Speeds/vsi are only correct if I leave this
valve open. Back to the couch...Wayne

Good luck Murray, I have never been able to get the MAM static line to work
no matter what I did to it. I have been flying around 200 hours now with the
static open to the cabin and it works fine. It's as accurate as it needs to
be for my flying.
