Elite SB - elevator horn

Post by Jeffrey Steenson » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:40 am

A mandatory service bulletin appeared on the Murphy tech support site dated
Nov. 2, to add elevator horn reinforcing attachments.

Any further word on what MAM intends to do with the large elevator spades?

Best wishes,

Jeffrey Steenson

Elite SB - elevator horn

Post by Alan Hepburn » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:40 am

Anybody know what thickness of material they're using for these EL-413
parts? Hardly seems worth ordering these parts from MAM. I was hoping to
do the final mounting of my stab this weekend. Well, better to know about
it now than Monday!

Elite SB - elevator horn

Post by Alan Hepburn » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:40 am

Yes, I got that from Robin at MAM today. However, it seems they are going
for an even more bullet proof fix. They want you to put a piece of 0.065"
square between the EL-413s (which presumably requires the EL413s to go on
the outside of the horn rather than the inside), then wrap a piece of 0.035"
from the top of one horn, back between the elevators, and forward again to
the top of the other horn. Apparently the website will be updated
accordingly, but Daryl is away, and he's the only one who has access to the
website.

So it looks like I should be patient for a few days to see what the final
version looks like.

Ah, well, I'll go back to testing the hydraulics on the floats this weekend.
Should keep me busy.

Elite SB - elevator horn

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:40 am

That's the way the Moose elevator reinforcement is done. Yes they go on the
outside.... as opposed to the 2500 reinforcement pics currently shown for
the Elite SB. Think I have some pictures if you want them
Alan..Jeffery..Dave..rj

Makes you kind'a wonder though if the SR2500 is still okay without the
square tube and wrap though doesn't it!?!?!...if the Elite needs the full
nine yards of the Moose reinforcement.
