Garry Wright

lurking buyer

Post by Garry Wright » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:34 am

I've been lurking on this group for several months. I had to dust off my
out of date license and while doing that was discussing Bob Johnsons
rebel with him with a view to purchasing it when I became legal to fly
again. Unfortunately for me, Neil Hardie beat me to it and I have to
look further.

I'm interested in either a Rebel or an Elite, complete or partially
complete with a Lycoming engine (150 HP or up) and built with amphibs in
mind.

At this time of year not many people advertise as it is usually rather
futile with few buyers around. I am however ready and serious and do not
want to have to wait for spring as none of us are getting any younger.
Location is Calgary, but I'm willing to travel to see attractive
possibilities.

Wayne G. O'Shea

lurking buyer

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:34 am

Gary....I hate to say it (because if I sell it I will then have to scramble
and install a set of amphibs to my own personal airplane before spring... so
I can fly something with floats to my "new" cottage!) but I have a Rebel on
1800 Amphibs available.

Aircraft originally built my Murphy Aircraft Nov 1992. Approx 370 Hr Total
time and Approx 95 hours since total refurbished by us summer 2001... with
the wings upgraded to 1650's, freshly overhauled O-320 x 150 HP installed
after removing the O-235, instrument panel redone from scratch, floats
stretched from 1500's to 1800's... with 21" long storage locker doors in
each float (and 45" long compartments), 3 points strobes/navs, landing/taxi
lights etc etc. Will send you a personal email with pictures and full
details if you are interested.... so just ask. Asking price reduced to
$108,500Cdn....broken down to $78,500 airplane + GST (as it's coming out of
the business) and $30,000 Cash to me for the floats. Willing to dicker a
little bit...but not much.

I will also have a rebuilt (previous builders choice award winner twice at
Oshkosh) Rebel available first thing in the spring (Mar/April) on wheels
(with hydraulics already installed for amphibs). This aircraft is nothing
but top notch top to bottom with full leather interior, floor carpeting,
moulded headliner, full gyro panel, EIS LCD engine monitor (full 4 channel
EGT and CHT and everything else under the sun in one box!), I think he may
even throw in his Lowrance GPS. Price will be less than the cost of the
parts/paint to build originally at only $75,000cdn and all the labour comes
for free! A private deal so no taxes on sale and since you're lucky enough
to be in Alberta no PST when you register the thing either! :O)) Aircraft is
308 Hours Total Time! Engine O-320-E2D x 150 HP 308HR SMOH, Prop Sensenich
DM74-52 approx 100 hr Since New, etc, etc, Rebuilding the forward fuselage
(cabin area) due to a rather harsh arrival on the lake in August...that
rearranged some aluminum! Wings untouched, tail feathers untouched, tailcone
untouched...just the cabin bent as well as the floats NFG. When it's
done...you'll never know it was pranged.

I also have two sets of 1800 amphibs here..brand new in the crate prebuilts
from when the Philippine factory had things going together right. $27,500
CASH plus about $1000 for axle mods and misc changes. Installation to an
airplane that doesn't have the hydraulics already installed would be about
$4000. With the hydraulics installed, like the airplane above, then
definitely somewhat cheaper!

hard you plead with MD-RA or Transport Canada!
