Carb drain plug must be safety wired

Post by Ted Waltman » Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:26 am

I just posted a pic to 113 - S/M Fuel Systems showing the carb drain
plug that must be safety wired.

A guy yesterday showed me a critical bolt that wasn't safety wired at
all on my Moose. It is the carb drain plug. Apparently there is at
least one article on the web (I'll post the URL when I get the it) that
discusses how one guy had a serious engine fire due to this plug working
loose. If it is loose, all gas drains into the engine compartment, and,
if it comes in contact with the hot exhaust, can cause a catastrophic
fire.

Here's a picture I annotated of of Kimball's website showing the bolt
you need to make sure you safety wire.
