Wayne G. O'Shea

engines & propeller for sale

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sat Feb 18, 2012 12:04 am

While we're selling stuff, don't forget that I still have a couple narrow
deck 150HP x O-320-A2B's !

One is torn down, inspected and NDT'd, sitting at ATC and ready for
re-assemble. Already have overhauled the carb, obtained full set of
reconditioned lifter bodies, new plunger inserts etc. Cylinders have already
come back from being sent south of the border, chromed and overhauled.....
or you can splurge for new Superior Millenniums or ? if you wish since it
hasn't been assembled yet (I can use the cylinders on the next one so the
choice is still yours!). Can still also choose overhauled Mags or new. These
are conical mount engines, but of course this can be changed to dynafocal if
you wish the extra bother (and high cost of the lord mounts) by simply
sending the case to ECI to be converted.

The other plus buying from me (besides the years of "service" here! and you
know that I'll stand behind it) is all engines I bring out of ATC are run in
on a water dyno (for 2 plus hours), that monitors all perimeters (EGT/CHT
temps/fuel flow/oil P/oil temp/etc), via computer showing HP down to 1/10 of
a HP. Computer print out is supplied and attached to the new engine log
books so you know that the engine is running properly before leaving the
shop. This is almost a $1000 service but >WELL< worth it in my book!! Others
throw a test club on and see if the engine makes "noise"! Some others just
assemble and ship with out a run in at all, so they don't really know if
assembly went right now do they. Before someone tells me it's not rocket
science assembling an engine..... "Little" things like ECI not counterboring
the crankshaft bearing retainer dowel pin holes to match the amount they
took off the case halfs, before a case line bore, show up pretty quick on
the dyno (thanks to the pins jamming the bearings against the crank like a
brake!!)! But your not likely to see it when you just bolt the engine halfs
together, as your guys are assuming the outsource did their job correctly,
and then they ship the engine without running on a dyno! This ain't
bullshit, ATC repaired a freshly overhauled ("other brand") O-320 last fall
that had exactly this going on. Engine ran, but didn't get great RPM and ran
hotter than hell. Would have been detected on the dyno before it left the
shop, but it sure wasn't just running it with a test club where it came from
(and no it >WAS NOT< MGK Aero!!)!

Cheers,
Wayne O'Shea
