I will measure the elevator tomorrow.
The DAR had a problem at my final inspection with the control stick grip
hitting the panel and the front of the pilot seat hitting the stick. I
placed the stops to eliminate the problem and so far I have plenty of
elevator. I have not run out of elevator in the flare with the amphibs or
wheels. When I climb, I do use flaps, I believe that does help the
elevator. Nothing scientific here, just the feel and the performance. The
controls seem lighter with flaps in a climb and climbs faster.

Subject: SR/Moose Elevator throw, was Horizontal Stab
*-------------------------------------------------------------------------*The more I think about it 20 degrees of up elevator does not seem like
enough. With full deflection and a theoretical relative wind parallel to
the stab. that would only be about a 10 degree angle of attack maximum for
the tail, using the chord line from tip of stabilizer to tip of deflected
elevator.
30 degrees up would give an angle of attack near 15 degree for the tail.
All that based on rough measurements of 22 inch stab chord length and 20
inch effective elevator chord length.
Al, what is your elevator throw?
