Hey Drew,

Where do you fly into at McKellar? My brother-in-law has a
beautiful cottage on a nice little lake (about 1/2 mile long by 1/4
wide) located in the northeast quadrant of the main intersection of
"town". I don't think it's part of Manitowabing Lake (sp??), but I'm
not sure. It's the property immediately south of the Community
Centre or whatever, and the laneway to the cottage is just over a
stones throw from the general store. Bob and Kathy Olsen. Very nice
people.

And if you want a nice shorter trip this coming Saturday and Sunday,
the 75th Anniversary of Windsor Airport (Walker Airport) is taking
place. Big doin's. Huge hangar dance with Swing Bands (1940's era
music) on Saturday night but tickets are going very fast at $55 per
head. Be a really nice air and ground display on Sunday, of which I'm
sure they would love to have you show off your plane. And a "staged"
air-race with Stearmans and Chipmunks, Harvards, etc. Lot's to see
and do. Contact for everything is
Lt.Col Ron Holden (RCAF ret), at 1-519-737-1196,
or the
Canadian Historical Aircraft Assoc. at 1-519-966-9742,
or anybody at the
Windsor Flying Club 1-519-969-1320.

You could get to see the two Rebels under construction too!!! One's
nearly ready to fly. With any luck, Curt will come over from Pontiac
too, and you can se his "plumbing".

Take care.

Brian Lawson,
Bothwell, Ontario.

ps...Love to see your Rebel!! On Sunday I'll be "working" one of the
EAA hot dog booths, so if you come please ask for me and stop by so I
can say Hello. Love to see your Rebel.

Great story Walter. It was a good flying weekend in Ontario too. I
took my
wife to Henrys fish shack on frying pan island in georgian bay. It's
a
water access only resturant that's been high on my list of places to
go
for
a long time.

Hey Drew,

We were down at Grand Bend on Tuesday and saw a cessna 185 on floats flying
around that area. Looked like fun! Winds were from west/northwest at about
15 knots on the water. Water was quite choppy - what were the conditions on
Wednesday?

Your loss when you do!

The guys that are bragging that they're flying are owed their "due" ....
from all the support that they have given here over the last 5+ years!

Enjoyment of the finished product is the whole purpose of the exercise isn't
it!..or maybe I'm just in a bad mood with out sleep for 2 days!

Sorry to hear you're not happy with the off topic discussions on the list
Larry. I've always tried to run the list by concensus, and that has always
been that discussions like this were good motivation to those of us still
building. If you still don't want to receive the additional e-mails I
certainly understand and would like to point out that e-mail is just one way
to participate with this group. The message database is always available
via the archive web page and also by using a newsgroup reader. Both of
these methods would allow you to view those messages you're interested in
without cluttering you inbox. I hate to see anybody go who could gain from
or share with the group.

Wow, got home and saw all these messages on this topic.
Since I started this thread with my story, I feel kind
of bad if there are any hard feelings. However, I
usually only send this when things are quiet. I always
found this list to be very friendly and got to know
some great people here.

Anyway, Larry, hate to see you go if you are building a
Murphy plane or thinking of doing so. This is a very
helpful list with very knowledgeable people. I know the
help they gave me was invaluable when I was building,
and I try to give back when I can, but will never match
the likes of Wayne and a few others. And yes, those of
us who are flying now, really do like our planes, as
you have probably gathered.

So, Larry, if you are at all serious about any Murphy
airplane, please stay and I'm sure you won't regret it.

Walter

Well Larry I think what you will find is 95% of the info distributed here is related to building or parts. Look at the other 5% as material to keep up your incentive \ motovation to keep building.

I'm a long way from finishing but the stories from the guys that are enjoying their airplanes make me want to keep at it.

Hi Brian
Our cottage is on the north side of the street on McKellar lake. My wife
has been cottaging there since she was 5 years old and she doesn't know
the
name of your bother-in-laws lake either. Her family calls it swimming
lesson lake because that's where all of them took lessons when they were
children and now their kids have learned to swim there too. I haven't
taken
off McKellar lake with a passenger yet when I took my wife flying on Sat.
I
made her walk over to Manitowaubing lake and I picked her up there. I'm
getting better though today I did about 20 splash and goes in a row down
lake Huron from Grand Bend to Port Franks what a blast. Keep building it's
worth it.

Take care.

Bothwell, Ontario.

ps...Love to see your Rebel!! On Sunday I'll be "working" one of the
EAA hot dog booths, so if you come please ask for me and stop by so I
can say Hello. Love to see your Rebel.
