Hi Tom,
The main spar of the fin should be in line with the vertical reference
point of the aircraft...e.g. the lift frame or whatever, otherwise the
fin will "lean".The vertical position is usually set on the bench, when
you have the tail cone in level flying position. All this should set the
gap. There is normally about 1/8 to 1/4", but its covered up anyway if
you fit the Dorsal fin, which is a very good idea.If the leading edge
touches, when you have checked all measurements, you can trim the
leading edge.
On fuel flows, I have many hundreds of hours on an 0-320 which only had
gravety feed...never a problem. I will look out what the fuel flow was.
The line right from the tank to carb must be minimum 3/8 ID through the
WHOLE run...no little bits of rubber pipe or whatever restricting the
flow anywhere. The more direct the run, the better.
Those little soft ali collars some people fit in the conical part of the
AN fuel line fittings can be a pain, if the have not seated
correctly...they drasticlly restrict the flow.
