QuickBuild build quality?
Does anyone have any views on the build quality of the quick build kits? I found a post saying they were put together in China which I don't necessarily see as a bad thing but it does all depend on quality control and what processes were put in place. So, anyone who has, or was working on one, have ...

Re: life span of a pop rivet
My guess is the guy was referring to long term vibration and stress on the rivets over the course of many flying hours. Not the result of a single event causing loosening of rivets. With the Murphy aircraft, there has to be quite a few with high numbers of flying hours on them now that an issue such...

Re: super cub glass fuel sight guages
Don't know about the Super Cub but the Cessna 162 Skycatcher has visual fuel sight tubes similar to the Rebel/Elite.

Re: Cured Chromate Epoxy on Parts Before Assembly?
I'm no expert and in fact, am really not knowledgable at all but here is my $0.02. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I understand there are 2 reasons for using the Chromate/Primer between parts: 1. To provide a layer of protection between parts that protects between different chemistries of the metals...

Re: Fuel Tank Sealant
One more note, when I expressed concern to MAM about expired proseal (ours was flamemaster), they said not to worry. The date was for certified work and that the stuff was still good. I think it was about a year out of date and I was glad because it wasn't cheap. I still have an unopened tin of pro...

Re: Fuel Tank Sealant
One further question for you about this stuff. Should I store it in the fridge or the freezer?

Re: Fuel Tank Sealant
Thanks everyone. I've gone and picked up some FlameMaster. Since the distributor is 10 minutes down the road, it makes it much easier than ordering from Victoria...and paying twice as much for the PPG Proseal.

Re: Zinc Chromate Alternatives
Thanks everyone. I took the plunge and bought some EP420/430 from Aviaquip. I'll use that between mating surfaces at least. Being near the coast, I will probably do a light dusting of self etch primer on the inside surfaces.
Cheers,
Philip

Zinc Chromate Alternatives
What Zinc Chromate Epoxy Primer alternatives would you recommend? I haven't been able to track down any Zinc Chromate Epoxy Primer down under. I've found a few self etch primers that are supposed to be good for aluminum but are these appropriate? What do you suggest?
Thanks
Philip

Fuel Tank Sealant
Hi All, After a very long hiatus, Victor and I are starting to build our Rebel again. I'm currently trying to track down the chemicals I need. I'll post a separate question about the primer but first the fuel tank sealant. I have tracked down a supplier for PRC Pro-Seal and another for FlameMaster. ...
