Re: Matco master cylinder intensifier
Sorry for the delay in posting. I don't check in often enough. Yes, I installed and intensifier kit for the same reason. Big tires. The intesifier mod for my Matco cylinders really helped with my Alaska Bushwheel 29", 26" and 1800 amphib floats (with tiny brake discs). BUT. The installation was pain...

Re: Murphy owners in Oregon
Hello Paul, You're gonna love your Rebel Elite on 1800 Amphibs. Here are some links for videos and a website of photos of my build. Sorry, haven't gotten around to posting all sections of my build, but lots of pics of panel, construction and assembly. My build was by the manual and the few Murphy Se...

Re: Murphy owners in Oregon
Three Murphys in Redding, CA...pretty close to Grants Pass: a Rebel, Elite, and Super Rebel (all flying).
My Elite is usually an amphib. Currently having fun on 29" Alaskan Bushwheels.

Shoot. We saw a Murphy fly in (you), but got distracted by the racing and chaos and didn't find you.
Next year for sure!!!
Way to go on the slats and testing 'em out.

High Sierra Fly-in
Very cool effort and photos of the slats on the Rebel. We flew to the 9th annual High Sierra STOL-Drag Racing fly-in at Dead Cow dry lakebed in Nevada a week ago. Lots of planes with large Alaska bush tires and a couple of planes with slats including the amazing custom Wilga named Draco with a PT6 a...

Huge accomplishment, Jerry!!!
After break in, squawk fixing and tweaking you are free to roam around the country.
Great job.

Re: S/R Fuel Vents
Hi Jerry, Great progress. I did fuel vent tubes into my Murphy supplied vented fuel caps. Get a little ram pressure from the tubes. I have flown through heavy rain and have had the airplane sit outside in absolute thunderstorm deluges and never had a drop of water in the fuel tanks. I first tried my...

Re: Mounting Wings
After getting your front and rear attach holes drilled and reamed, next is the scary job of cutting your struts. I made test pieces out of scrap wood and MDF. This let me get the cut angles and lengths correct before going after the expensive real struts. I used a chop saw. It was over in a moment.....

Re: Mounting Wings
The Elite wings do not weigh near as much as your Super Rebel's. Here is my scaffolding setup when I first mounted the wings and cut the struts. Amazing how accurate you can get things dialed in just shimming off your scaffolding. The most important item was waxed dental floss stretched between wing...

Re: Planning for ADSB
I only recently learned about the "free" ADSB-In solution. I've been running the open source Stratux in our plane for about a week. All up I'm into it for about $75. Main board is about $35 and the two programmable USB receivers (one for 978Mhz and one for 1090MHz) are about $20 each including the u...

Three View Diagrams and Generic POH
To All, A while ago, don't remember, but it was a number of years ago, I posted a generic Elite POH. I also posted more detailed 3 View diagrams (side, top, front) of the taildragger than I could find from any other source. Finally, I have gotten around to doing the same thing for my Elite amphib PO...

Re: Speed cowls with Vans Scoop.
Here are a couple of small pics, but more pics on my DropBox site for details on the airbox itself and some showing the "fun" fiberglass work. Make sure to safety those airbox plate nuts so they don't get sucked up into the engine. And consider Wayne's alternate air/bypass. https://www.dropbox.com/s...

Re: Speed cowls with Vans Scoop.
My wife and I did the fiberglass work to mate the Vans scoop to the Murphy speed cowl on our Elite. Don't like fiberglass work, but it went well. The curve of the Vans snout matches the curve of the speed cowl. Very surprising. Good time to make sure you have a good size opening for hot engine air t...
