Re: AD / SB Plastic Amphib Hydraulic Reservoir Lid

Cork looks fine Ray, still soft. Rim of reservoir is only an 1/8th" wide at best so I guess it just decided to dislodge the last time I put the lid back on and fell into the tank.

Re: AD / SB Plastic Amphib Hydraulic Reservoir Lid

Just checked IWH.. and it, like yours Walter is a lid about 1 3/8" OD. Same dual vent hole cork, nicely in place.

The reservoir in mine has a lid of about 2" OD. Center post, cork not overly secure as noted previously! :wtf:

Re: AD / SB Plastic Amphib Hydraulic Reservoir Lid

Totally clean Walter, the cork just dislodged and headed for the tank.

Note the difference though, my lid has a center peg and cork has the hole in the center to fit it. Too bad it didn't get a ringer on the outlet tube!

The bonus of having your own wet, soft, grass strip ! Pavement would have had those wear strips back to the skins! :wtf:

AD / SB Plastic Amphib Hydraulic Reservoir Lid

Before further flight. Remove reservoir lid and inspect the gasket for security. I highly suggest you remove it all together.

BTW, notice I said nothing about moving the firewall back and messing up your ability to carry a load in the back. :shh:

FIrewall reinforcement plates (top set being the most critical), MAM's "float fix" bulletin gusset, or if you've already done the windshield my original fix with a double rivet row up the forward door posts and the top 5 rivets up graded to RV1613's. As a tail dragger Fus 70 x .025 upper cabin to ta...

Re: Rebel Verses Kitfox

Maybe that's why I can't sell the Rebel Amphib that I have in the hangar.... it cruises too fast at 118 MPH and may scare these guys !

Floats must be tagged in Canada

I guess I was ahead of my time when I did Howard's set of floats in 1997 and tagged them both with builder and serial numbers. The same as you would find on a certified set of floats. MDRA has added some more "verbage" to their system. I also had never seen it shown before that you needed your float...

Re: Speed cowls with Vans Scoop.

Yes, but Walter is the speed cowl "guru"! :shh: Follow his advise that he's given here many times. I hate the thing myself... As for fiberglasss air intake box, it was on this Elite when it came into my hangar for the amphib install. The way it works, filtering both ram and heated air, if you suck i...

What did you strip off your airplane to get that weight Bruce? :shh:

Engine full of oil, ready to fly other than fuel, 1249 lbs.

Re: Aircraft Rigging

I wasn't trying to make it climb... that was just it's leisurely pace leaving the field here! If it performs this well as is, and shows that it works well fully loaded (when I get to that stage), the prop will be left as is. That way it works for wheels and floats and skips the two props n...

Re: Aircraft Rigging

Yes Bruce... bought factory direct.. 225 hours total time 74DM7-0-58. Never repitched. Holding the brakes in the grass prior to take off I see almost 2500 rpm and about 2550 climbing out. From the first flight when I brought this airplane home, 6 years ago, I noted that this thing really motors alon...
