Thanks for chiming in Darryl! I threw out -3000 FPM and not far off your guesstimated calculated decent. Nothing is gonna save that, especially without suspension, other than correct flying.

I double rivet right from the bottom of the door post. I've also had a fair number of Rebel's in the shop and / or walked by at fly ins that didn't have the Z pattern of rivets from Fus-9 into the upper corner wrap. It all adds up, but not much is going to save a -3000FPM arrival to water!

I was actually watching that video expecting the low wing to stall and spin into the crowd, trying to fly as slow as the Rebel! Just a dumb.. dumb.. exhibition to start with. Surprised TC didn't violate both involved.

BTW, that is Rick Porteous' Rebel. Built in 1993..

Only takes ONE of those 3000 FPM descents onto water to do that! Especially when you haven't double riveted your door post and / or added MAM's "float fix" doubler at the top between Fus-9 and the wing root panel. Dave, thought they were all gone.. but found another box of these 1/4-28 one lugs. They are anodized yellow with a floating steel lock nut inside. $3 Cdn each + postage if you want some.

Picture of what I put in the SR/Moose as you CAN NOT get at at least 2 sets once the bottom skin is riveted onto the tail section. I think I sold them all off though, not sure if I have any left but I'll look shortly.

CONGRATULATIONS Jerry!!!! What a milestone! Rivets leaking out the stem hole or perimeter? Stem hole, I've fixed many by simply using a small spherical ball in the dremel to cut a ring into the ID of the rivet head and fill with PRC. Or just drill them out, coat a new rivet in PRC, insert and pull. ...

My next, and probably final (before I get real old and have to sell mine too.. ), Rebel on Amphibs is probably a year.5 out Curt. The amphib floats are ready to install, I just need to rebuild a wing and do some refurb work before I can mate them to the 160HP Rebel I have in my "spares".

Are the float flying wires tied at the center cross?? All sorts of neat noises can come from there if you don't make a little wooden block and safety wire or tie wrap it in place.

Polyfiber EP420, or a similar (zinc) epoxy primer, brushed on between mating parts and riveted while still wet.... while dipping every rivet' shop head in primer before insertion and pulling.
