Re: Ron Shannon

I echo flygirl's comments...This builders forum has lots of good information, but Ron's website was well documented (text and photos) and obviously in chronological order, so I see it as a complimentary resource to this one.

Re: Ron Shannon

Thanks for the explanation Garry,

Mike Fairbanks (the owner/administrator of this site) has offered to host builders' logs here, so perhaps we could capitalize on that?

Re: Ron Shannon

I echo the sentiments here...Ron was a great person, and his website was indeed a huge resource (at least for me).

Garry....what would it take to bring his website data back online? Money? time? expertise?...all three?

Re: "CPDG" plastic washers

There's at least one that goes between the attach brackets when you install the rudder on the vertical stab. Can't recall now whether all the empennage hinges need them. Also, they are called-for when installing the front attach bracket on each horizontal stab (where it connects to the fuselage). Th...

Re: Floatplane engine falling off

I'm not finding "The Aviators Lounge" on FB. Is this the exact spelling?

I see 'The Aviation Lounge' and lots of sites under 'Aviator's Lounge' but no site called 'The Aviators Lounge'.

Re: Fixing gouges

Hi 'cgroves', Many of us have long forgotten our work on the flying surfaces, so you may want to take a few shots of how the parts fit together (including a pen mark around the area of concern, as Mike suggested). You say there's a doubler to be installed in this area....that may be a way to add the...

Re: Fixing gouges

Hi 'cgroves', In your photo, it is difficult to actually see the area of concern. Is it a long scratch, or just an indentation same size as the drill you were using? Regardless, the following advice is based on my reading of AC 43.13-1B section 4. Your situation is not explicitly described there, bu...

Re: Door Handles

Jesse,
I think this photo (taken from Craig's online photo album) clears things up.

So, no need for you to send another.

Re: Door Handles

Thanks a ton, Jesse. I think I have all I need to move forward. It would be a huge help if you could upload a photo (at some point) of the area where the roll pin goes through the aluminum 'block' and bolt. A 'bird's eye' view of the whole thing... just to get a sense of thicknesses of the various c...

Re: Door Handles

Thanks for chiming in, Craig. I'm glad to hear you haven't seen a need to redesign the latch system...given what you've done with the landing gear on your plane, I'm confident that if the latch needed reinforcing, you would not have hesitated to do so! Jesse/Si's latch also appears very si...

Re: Door Handles

Good day all, I'm reviving this thread because I want to use a system like the latch shown in the photos above for my gull-wing doors. Ten years ago I got a demo flight with Curt (Rebflyer@aol.com) and (to the best of my recollection) he constructed a DIY 3-point latch system very similar to the one...

Re: T3 Tailwheel

Thanks for the additional photo Timberwolf! I think we're all mostly interested in close-up shots of the areas on the Rebel you had to modify to accept the T3. You were kind enough to provide a verbal description of the steps, but as the say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Thanks in advance, Rob
